3rd Uttar Pradesh State Thaiboxing Championship successfully concluded in Chowk Indoor Stadium, Lucknow. Chief Guest of the Championship was Hon'ble Dayashankar Mishra, (Minister of State, Government of Uttar Pradesh), President (Thaiboxing Association of Uttar Pradesh), Special Guest was Syed Rafat Zuber Rizvi, Treasurer, Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association and Guests of Honour were Sandeep Verma, Coordinator, Sports for School, Manisha Rani, General Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Ring Tennis Association, Fasahaat Hussain (Babu), Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Atul J. Pandey General Secretary Muaythai Association of Uttar Pradesh, Abhishek Maurya General Secretary MMA Association Uttar Pradesh, Seraj Ahmad Quraishi National President Indian Journalist Association, Chandrashekhar Singh, Rama Dubey, Gurvinder Singh honored the players by giving them medals and winner and runner-up team trophies. Varanasi won the competition, Lucknow was runner-up and Sonbhadra got the third place. 215 players and 20 officials from 13 districts including Varanasi, Lucknow, Ghazipur, Sonbhadra, Shravasti, Rae Bareli, Prayagraj, Azamgarh, Kanpur, Unnao, Bahraich, Chandauli, Jaunpur participated in the competition. Varanasi team performed brilliantly in the competition and won 42 gold, 13 silver, 8 bronze medals and captured the winner's trophy. Syed Imran Hussain, General Secretary of Thaiboxing Association of Uttar Pradesh, said that Dinesh Kumar, Azhar, and others played a major role in successfully organizing the championship. Khan, Shiv Pratap Shahi, Sartaj Ahmed Siddiqui, Abhishek Sonkar, Arif Khan, Mohammad Shadab, Satyam Yadav, Rashid Ahmed, Kamini, Mohd. Anas Siddiqui, Anup Kumar, Ratnesh Sharma, Shadab Hussain, Dheeraj Mishra, D.K. Maurya, Arjun Chaudhary, Mohammad Akram played an important role in making the championship successful. Players who won gold and silver medals in the championship will participate in the 6th National Thaiboxing Competition to be held in Varanasi from 29 to 31 August.
On this occasion, Sandeep Gupta, Ramlakhan Shastri, Dilshad Ahmed, Awadhesh Kumar, Qazi Mohammad Akram, Amit Srivastava, Virendra Sharma, Saddam Khan congratulated the medal winning players and wished them a bright future.
