Kashmiri journalists celebrate 17th anniversary of Indian Journalist Association.

Indian Journalist Association is celebrating 17 years of upholding the integrity and independence of journalism and MLA of Lal Chowk Srinagar constituency Hon. Shri Ehsan Pardesi inaugurated the state office of Indian Journalist Association Jammu and Kashmir in a grand ceremony by cutting the ribbon.
Addressing the grand ceremony, MLA Ehsan Pardesi said, “This will add value to the mission of Indian Journalist Association in the country.” Who said that IJA under the leadership of Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon will prove to be an important step towards the mission of the organization. Senior and prominent journalists of Kashmir also graced the event.
Established in 2008, Indian Journalist Association is an organization dedicated to protecting the interests of media persons and upholding the principles of a free and responsible press in India. Pakhtoon said that the aim of the Indian Journalist Association is to promote the culture of ethical and fearless reporting essential for a healthy democracy.
Addressing the grand function, State President Jammu and Kashmir Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon said that the Indian Journalist Association is celebrating its anniversary with commitment towards ethical reporting and protection of the fourth pillar in India. The Indian Journalist Association, a leading organization dedicated to promoting ethical and courageous journalism in India, is proud to announce its 17th anniversary. Since its inception on September 5, 2008, the Indian Journalist Association has been at the forefront in advocating for a free and responsible press, protecting the rights of media persons and promoting high standards of reporting across the country, continuously fighting against incidents of journalist interests and harassment. In the last 17 years, the organization has emerged as a strong voice of journalists, providing assistance in facing the growing challenges and actively communicating with the government and civil society on the role of media in nation building. The anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on key achievements, including Advocacy for journalist safety. Actively campaigning on and contributing to journalist protection laws to ensure the safety of those reporting on the ground. Promoting ethical journalism. Organising awards and workshops to recognise and encourage journalistic work that demonstrates in-depth analysis, truth seeking and unwavering integrity, countering sensationalism and misinformation. Adapting to the digital age. Providing guidance and training to deal with the complexities and challenges of reporting in the digital age, including the use of artificial intelligence and addressing concerns related to paid news.
Celebration of journalistic excellence. Honouring annually those “Kalm Ke Sipahis” whose work has had a significant impact on public opinion and government decision-making, Mr Manzoor added. “This anniversary is a testimony to the resilience and dedication of journalists across the country. We have never been silent spectators when the rights of media persons have been violated. We are more committed than ever to our core values of protecting democracy, safeguarding the rights of the people and working towards the broader goal of sustainable development through quality reporting.
